Nikki Reed doing Acro Yoga with her brother is iconic
If you follow enough fitness feeds on Instagram, you’ve likely seen images of couples working together to flow through a series of gravity-defying yoga poses. Hannah Bronfman and her husband, Brendan Fallis, seem perpetually entwined in high-flying positions, while there are entire accounts devoted to the acrobatic antics of yogi couples. Nikki Reed is the latest celebrity showing off her acrobatic skills on Instagram, but it isn’t hubby Ian Somerhalder who’s holding her up. Instead, Reed practices with her brother, Nathan.
“I just love acro yoga. I’m so drawn to it,” the actress wrote on Instagram back in May. “I’m going to say this now: I’m determined to become the most badass brother-sister acro yoga duo on the planet.” It’s only been a few months since Reed’s proclamation, but the pair seems to be well on their way to their goal of partner-yoga world domination.
The postures may look impressive and garner plenty of likes on Instagram, but Reed’s pretty humble about her skills: “This might make me feel like a badass but if you know acro yoga, you’ll see it’s really just a basic stretch,” she captioned one picture taken soon after she gave birth to her daughter, Bodhi. “Can’t do much yet, but while I wait and recover, I might as well do things that make me feel like superwoman with my big bro.” They even adjusted the flow to gently stretch her hips, triceps, and abdomen for extra postpartum TLC.
"Hey brother stay away from my uterus." Totally normal thing to say to your brother postpartum 😂 Also 📷cred…our Mom. She still thinks everything we do is super cool. Thanks mom. Ps This might make me feel like a badass but if you know Acro-yoga, you'll see it's really just a basic stretch. Can't do much yet, but while I wait and recover, I might as well do things that make me feel like superwoman with my big bro :). Thanks for the sweet afternoon Boog, I can't wait to get back into some serious moves with you❤️💪🏻 #Repost @nathanaugustreed ・・・ More stretches and rejuvenating postures. #Teamwork. This time with my beautiful, loving, caring sister who is now a proud mother of a gorgeous little girl. This easy pose stretches her hips, triceps and even her abdomen, which are of course still in repair mode. Of all the postures, there were a few that really felt amazing for her. This was one of them. Can you believe how amazing she looks? I swear she's already in proper shape to join me for the San Diego Triathalon next month…
Whether you’re still searching for your own yogi partner in crime or are about to send Reed’s feed to your sibling group text, we have one piece of advice: Choose the person who lifts you up into the air very carefully. Even acro yogi regulars like Nikki and Nathan take their spills. As she writes in her most recent post: “Really glad he didn’t drop me on my head…this time.”
I just love acro yoga. I'm so drawn to it. I was introduced about a year ago and I'm obsessed. Reminds me of my gymnastics days as a kiddo. This is my gorgeous brother learning some of the basics. I'm going to say this now- I'm determined to become the most badass brother sister acro yoga duo on the planet :)! #Repost @nathanaugustreed ・・・ Afternoon beach flow- @iamnikkireed we're doing this as soon as you're able.
