Bella Swan’s engagement ring has fetched a whopping $16,800 at a Twilight merchandise auction.

The ring worn by Kristen Stewart was one of over 900 items sold during a two-day auction hosted by Prop Story and Lionsgate, including over 100 props, dozens of costumes and other set pieces from the popular films.

Among these hundreds of pieces of film history on offer, the biggest sale without a doubt was the engagement ring, which was originally valued at just $3,000-5,000 and went to an unnamed fan.

But the ring wasn’t the only item to defy expectations in auction, the ‘meadow’ costume that Bella word, including mittens, jeans and a blue jacket, went for $8,400 – when it was projected to fetch closer to $5,000. 

The artwork featuring lines of multi-colored graduation caps that was seen in the home of the Cullen family was picked up at the auction for $10,200.

Coming into second place in the high-ticket items with a final price of $13,200, was the red and white chess set used by Bella and Edward.

Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen’s journal also fetched a pretty penny at $7,800.

Bids came in from all over the world for the pieces from the series of films, which have grossed more than three billion dollars at the global box office and is considered one of the most popular film franchises of all time.  

Brandon Alinger, Prop Store COO, said according to InStyle that the company was ‘thrilled’ with the success of the event.

‘The films have a global following, which was very evident with the worldwide response from bidders over the weekend,’ he said. 

‘For Twilight fans, this auction offered an amazing opportunity to own a piece of the phenomenon and we were proud to partner with Lionsgate on the project.’

Before the auction, Brandon touted the two-day event as ‘the very first opportunity for Twi-hards to get their hands on this gear.’

He added: ‘As far as I’m aware no authentic Twilight material has ever been sold in the past.

‘Really it’s all been in storage since the studio stopped production when the last film came out about four years ago.’

The Twilight films, based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer, became a global phenomenon following the release of the first installment in 2008. A further four movies followed – New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
